Date: Saturday, 20 June 2020. 10am, ‘The RED GUM Picnic Area’, Governor Road, Keysborough. Leaders Mick Liddell and Joan Kenny.
MUAB undertook a delightful walk in Braeside Park, a large urban green-space and native plant reserve providing community gardens for walks, cycling and picnics. Redgum stands, grassy woodlands, heathland and the wetlands provide a series of diverse micro-habitats. The Long Walkers (20 and max. for Covid-19 rules) enjoyed a 10km loop on easy paths with ankle-deep water crossings and a lunch stop viewing the water birds.
The Shorter Walkers enjoyed a 5 to 6 km loop with lunch back at the Redgum picnic tables. Joan regularly visits this rural space near her home and her group of 6 visited her special places on a leisurely stroll .
After our enforced Covid 19 lockdown, it was a real pleasure for MUAB members to walk together again. After some rather dismal weather predictions during the week, we were blessed with a perfect sunny winter’s day.
